The first graders got a special surprise this week. After we learned about Claude Monet and his garden through reading "The Magical Garden of Claude Monet," thanks to special passports, we were able to take a field trip all the way to France to visit Monet's Garden! While in the garden we made observations and drew what we saw. I hate to say it, but I think the first graders drew Monet's garden better than he ever did...
4th and 5th
4th and 5th graders worked on observational drawing this week. Before heading outside to draw contour line trees, 4th graders practiced first by tracing tree images on the Smartboard. The 5th graders learned how self-portraits inspired today's "selfies," and practiced self-portrait drawing. 5th graders focused on drawing what they saw- no football shaped eyes here!
