Watch the video: If you drew a building last week, try to create it using cardboard. If you did not draw a building last week, design one and then construct it out of cardboard. You can watch my example of how I built a car below! When you finish, you can share your art on Flipgrid.
If you have ever visited Chicago you probably saw a lot of different buildings. I recently took a trip to Chicago and made a video of some buildings I saw: You are going to design a new building in a Chicago style. You can draw your building on paper, or create it on one of these websites: https://www.worldwidesteelbuildings.com/3d-building-designer/ https://toytheater.com/build/ https://sketch.io/sketchpad/ When you finish, you may share it on Flipgrid. Check back for a response from Ms. K! Take the quiz, "What Color are You?"

The rainbow is made up of warm and cool colors. The second graders learned about this through studying Paul Klee's famous fish artwork, which also helped them learn how artists get inspired. Thinking about how colors connect to emotions, the second graders painted their fish to match their personality. To see pictures, visit my Twitter page or follow this link: https://twitter.com/mskartroom/status/916034400088866816 It's always so sad to see the butterflies leave when it starts to get cold out, so second graders created clay butterflies that never have to go away. Second graders sculpted clay butterflies, adding line designs to them, and then painted them either warm, cool, or neutral colors. Some are now on display in the year round Windsor flower box by the office.
Since second graders had so many amazing and interesting pieces left over from "Take Apart Day" we decided to reuse them to make some art! Take a look at how creative the students were!
