Art Activity: Practice coloring in the lines, and blending colors. To help ease back into the school year, the fourth graders spent time creating their own Mandalas. The word "mandala" means "circle" in Sanskrit. Creating mandalas has been a popular art form for Tibetan monks, representing the universe and wholeness. Mandalas are made up of many patterns and designs to create one intricate work of art. Vincent van Gogh's most famous and well known painting, "Starry Night," was painted during the summer of !889 in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence France. The fourth graders are taking on this painting with a fall twist. After drawing the starry night background, fourth graders will embed fall words into the swirling sky and rolling hills. Finally, the original cypress tree will be swapped out with a glorious fall colored tree. Here's a fascinating video of an artist recreating Starry Night in his own unique way: |
